Carbon fibre surface table

The name ‘surface’ for use with a table has been buzzing around quite a bit lately… but we know who started it 😉

Anyway… ‘Established & sons’, one furniture designer one F1 car designer, have created this “British made” composite table measuring in at 3M long and 2mm thick. No word on the weight, but it won’t be much! Price will be inversely proportional to the weight.

‘Surface Table’ launched earlier this year, slipped past our radar like a stealth jet.

Straight Up Chess

Forgetting the days of school chess club and the early days of nerdness, I feel you should always make time for games that don’t involve sitting infront of the TV with minimal interaction. Which, it must be mentioned that our surface tension tables come with backgammon and chess board images to encourage this sort of play.

I digress. What we have here are the Straight Up Chess boards. They are aimed at those who love chess, but also don’t have to time to sit down for a decent game. Playing in passing seems to be the vibe. Maybe placed in the office or hallway at home, play your move when you get the chance and update your ‘last move’ marker. Hmm, didn’t I say something about minimal interaction with computer games…? There is also a ‘check’ marker for when you’re ready to gloat. Out of sight of course.

It also looks ideal for those that don’t have the opportunity to go head-to-head, or are chess-lover lovers…

Table football for the lounge

If the only criteria was to be more acceptable in your living room than this football table, then the offside certainly wouldn’t have any problems… but it offers much more than that.

A very nicely designed piece with the stadium-esque surround. Note that there’s plenty of room on the glass for your beer and snacks without interfering with play. Made from solid oak, with stainless controls and a mirrored pitch. The score markers are built into the 10mm glass top, which look pretty sweet.
There’s only one table for my living room. But if I had a second, then this would be bang in the middle.

More details on the new table

Before the main website gets updated, here are some more photos and details for the new surface tension table.

The new surface tension table is totally unrecognisable as a gaming machine. Tempered, tinted glass to carefully hide what’s inside. Custom integrated speaker design so nothing is given away.

Click open the door at the back to reveal front-panel access to your PC. From here you can access USB ports, audio jacks and your optical drive. By designing in quality discreet hinges, the door can open fully without restriction.

The table comes to life when you pull the drawer out to reveal the control panel. Within seconds you’re ready to do battle. When you’re done, just push it back in and watch the soft-action buffers take care of the final part of travel, ensuring it doesn’t slam shut.

Anodised aluminium houses the genuine arcade parts; Sanwa sticks and Happ trackball and buttons. The sticks are also 4/8 way switchable… you’ll know what that means if you’ve ever tried playing Pac-man with an 8-way!

You’ll probably want to know some dimensions to see how it’s going to fit in.

At present, lead time is around 6 weeks.
